Darren was born in Okinawa, Japan in 1969. His desire to draw and create came at an early age. For Darren's 8th birthday, he got a Walt Disney light up drawing desk from his parents. The little plastic drawing desk propelled Darren into a drawing machine. It took several hundred ugly drawings to get out of the way first, but before long, he became really good at drawing. He always has been creative, winning art contests through his early years of education. Darren went on to attend college with a scholarship in art and graduated with a degree in design from Auburn University in 1993.
Wilson began his career in Nashville, Tennessee where he worked as a designer with clients such as Saturn, Bridgestone,/Firestone and Jack Daniels. He also spent some time designing for a small studio in the heart of Music Row. He arrived in Orlando and worked as a designer for Universal Studios and soon after received the call he's been waiting for and since that happy day in 1997, Darren has worked as a graphic designer for Walt Disney World. he has had the opportunity to create designs for the Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney's Animal Kingdom, Disney's Hollywood Studios, Disney Cruise Line, Disneyland Park, and Disney's California Adventure.
Darren has created original paintings for the Art of Disney galleries for the past 9 years and is fluent in both acrylic paint as well as oils. Darren has become one of the most sought after artists around the wonderful world of Disney. He has had paintings at the Disneyland Resort, World of Disney Store in New York City, and the Walt Disney World Resort. Guest have come to know his work very well and his work is in constant demand. He has developed his own unique style of painting by capturing the essence through movement, compostion, tone and attention to detail.
