Costa Alavezos was born and raised in San Francisco, CA. One of his first memories was holding a pencil in his hands and drawing with his grandmother, although it was a bit messy and not quite perfect, he knew he had found his passion> Costa has had stars in his eyes ever since and grew up dreaming about one day being an artist for Disney. He attended the Academy of Art University for illustration and graphic design and got his Masters of Fine Arts from San Jose University. Costa was hired right out of school to work for a greeting card company.
After a year, Costa moved back to California and landed his first job with Disney as a freelance artist. he worked as a product developer where he produced illustrations and products such as figurines, globes, collector plates, and Disney Home Video art. Costa also had the opportunity to work with other companies, creating products focusing on some of his favorite characters.
After fours years he decided to leave the perfect California weather and palm trees behind and move to Colorado, where he pursued another path in the greeting card industry. He worked to produce greeting cards, part assortments and various Halloween, Valentine, and Christmas products. Despite being nose deep in greeting cards every day, Costa still found time to freelance for Disney; crossing his fingers one day he'll land a permanent job with the company.
Costa made the big move to Orlando after he was offered a job as Senior Character Artist for the Walt Disney World Resort. You can spot his merchandise products all over the parks; from mugs, figurines, to even ornaments, Costa has certainly been busy since starting officially at the company over 20 years ago. While at Disney, Costa also branched out internationally; most recently he was responsible for managing all fo the character art merchandise that was sold throughout the Shanghai Disney Resort, focusing on the new TRON Lightcycle Power Run attractions, Adventure Isle, and Mickey Avenue locations
In Costa's spare time, he creates illustrations, prints and paintings and sells them in galleries at the Walt Disney World Resort and the Disneyland Resort. It feels like yesterday since Costa started at Disney and there isn't a day that he doesn't pinch himself.
