A Whole New Toy Story Adventure

In this 4th installment of the beloved Disney•Pixar film series, pivotal Toy Story character Woody must take it upon himself to help Bonnie’s new craft-project-turned-toy named Forky, voiced by Tony Hale, to accept that he is a toy and not “trash.” Obvious from the teaser trailer, Forky is having a hard time acclimating to life as a toy, causing quite the shakeup within the gang. But, when the toys go on a family road trip with Bonnie, things take an unexpected turn when Woody makes a surprise detour and meets his long-lost friend: Bo Peep.

It’s been nearly 20 years since Bo Peep, voiced by Annie Potts, has graced our screens, last seen in Toy Story 2 in 1999. Apparently, she’s been on her own for years and has developed a new adventurous spirit that contrasts her delicate porcelain design. According to Lee Unkrich, the director of Toy Story 2 and Toy Story 3, Bo had been sold at a yard sale all those years ago. From the looks of it, Bo Peep is going to be quite the prominent character this time around.

Everyone is Back (With Some New Faces)!

The original Toy Story cast have all been confirmed to be returning to their roles in Toy Story 4, including the likes of Tom Hanks as Woody, Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear, Joan Cusack as Jesse, and many more. This even includes the late Don Rickles, who voiced Mr. Potato Head in the previous films. Before his death in 2017, he hadn’t yet recorded any lines for the film, but the Rickles family have given Pixar’s filmmakers permission to use old recordings of his voice so he may posthumously reprise his role.

New unique characters have been shown in trailers to be joining the fray as well in this exciting adventure. Ducky and Bunny, two carnival game prizes played by comedians Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele, are seen in the trailer to be giving our beloved toy characters a run for their money.

Keanu Reeves has also joined the mix, previously being credited as a mystery role in the film. However, it’s since been revealed that he’ll be playing the daredevil action figure named Duke Caboom, who is speculated to be the villain of the story.

We’ve also seen glimpses of some new surprising toy characters in the trailers that have been released so far. Perhaps the most surprising is the haunted puppet doll Slappy the Dummy, made infamous from the book and TV series Goosebumps. Slappy is seen amongst other just-as-creepy dolls, so there is speculation that they may play some villainous characters in the film.
