Make:Standard Regulation Size and make Hard Ball Baseball.
Size;Generally between 9 inches (22.9 cm) and 9¼ inches (23.5 cm) incircumference, and 5 ounces (142 g) in weight, though sometimesdifferent-size balls may be used in children's leagues. Construction varies.Generally the core of the ball is cork, rubber, or a mixture of the two, andis sometimes layered. Around that are various linear materials includingyarn and twine, sometimes wool is used. A leather cover is put on, in twopieces, and stitched together using 108 stitches of waxed cotton threadwhich is typically red in color. Rolled stitching is flatter and createsless air-resistance. This is the type of stitching used for major leagueballs and is ideal for the game and everyday play. Official Major Leagueballs sold by Rawlings are made to the exactMLB specifications (5 ounces, 108 stitches) and are stamped with thesignature of Commissioner Allan "Bud" Selig on each ball.
Universal, Sea World and Disney Baseballs; Most Designer Collectible Baseballs adhere to the Standard Size, and make ofOfficial Regulation Baseballs, however, recently, there has been a move awayfrom traditional construction, and more towards construction which benefitsappearance and longevity of the Ball, rather than official weights, andmaterials. This allows the manufacturer to use materials like Vinyl, Latex,Rubber, Polyester, and more to produce a baseball with a superior finish andappearance, at lighter weights, and at a lower cost. We will do our best tolist any deflection from the standard design, or materials used inconstruction of the baseball, if we are aware of any.
